Summary
- Jambo has no sign-up and no servers of its own. We don't collect any data from the app.
- Each friendship is stored in iCloud and shared only between you and that friend. We can't see it.
- A friend sees the name you choose in Jambo and the Jambos you send them, with their times. Nothing else.
- There are no ads, no third-party analytics and no tracking. We never sell your information.
- You can remove a friend at any time to stop sharing.
Information you enter
When you set up Jambo, you choose the name your friends will see. When you use it, Jambo records the Jambos you send and receive (who sent each one and when) and any streak restores. Nicknames you give friends and your settings, such as reminders, stay on your device. None of this is ever sent to us.
How friendships are shared
When you invite a friend, Jambo creates a space for that friendship in your private iCloud database and an iCloud share link for it. The first person to open the link joins that friendship; Jambo removes anyone else who tries to use the same link. You and your friend can then see each other's Jambo name and the Jambos you send each other. The friendship is stored in the iCloud account of the person who sent the invite and uses a very small amount of their iCloud storage. Invite links are handled by Apple's iCloud, so share yours only with the friend you mean to invite.
Information we don't collect
Jambo doesn't collect your email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, advertising identifiers or usage analytics, and it doesn't read your messages. It contains no third-party SDKs. Its privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data, and its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected." If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and we use it only to reply.
iCloud
Jambo stores and syncs friendships through Apple's CloudKit. We have no access to this data, and we run no servers of our own. Apple stores it under Apple's iCloud Terms and Privacy Policy. Jambo uses iCloud's own timestamps for streaks, so your device's clock never affects them.
Purchases
Streak Restore is an optional purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. Jambo attaches a random identifier for the friendship to the purchase so the restore reaches the right streak; it doesn't identify you.
Notifications
When a friend sends you a Jambo, iCloud tells your device through Apple's push notification service; we don't send notifications from any server. Reply reminders and the daily reminder are scheduled on your device. You can turn them off in Jambo's Settings or in the Settings app.
Widgets, Siri and Shortcuts
Widgets and controls read a small summary of your friendships that Jambo keeps on your device. When you use Siri or Shortcuts with Jambo, Apple processes your request under its own privacy policy, and Jambo answers on your device.
Diagnostics
Jambo keeps technical logs on your device only. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and usage statistics through App Store Connect.
Removing friends and deleting data
To stop sharing with a friend, remove them in Jambo. If you sent the invite, the whole friendship is deleted from your iCloud. If your friend sent it, Jambo removes your name from it and you leave it; the Jambos already sent stay in your friend's history. Deleting Jambo removes its data from your device. To delete Jambo's data from iCloud, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage (or Manage Account Storage) → Jambo. Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
This website
jambo.rodgerslabs.com uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify or track individual visitors across sites. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.
Children's privacy
Jambo is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete your personal information. Because your Jambo data is in iCloud and on your devices, you can exercise these rights directly: change your name in Jambo's Settings, remove friends, or delete the app's iCloud data. For anything else, contact hello@rodgerslabs.com.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version at jambo.rodgerslabs.com/privacy and update the date above.
